Biography
Academic: Avadhut Shivaji Kharat is presently working as Assistant Professor in Department of Engineering Physics and is heading the department. He joined SDM Institute of Technology, Ujire in August 2008. He obtained his MSc degree in physics from Karnatak University, Dharwad in the year 2008. Presently he is pursuing his PhD degree from Mangalore University, Mangalore. He is life time member of Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE). Non-Academic :   Avadhut Shivaji Kharat served as Warden of SDMIT Boys Hostel in the year 2011 to 2015 and Chairman, Sports committee from 2010 to 2013 then 2014 to 2016. Presently he is Chairman, Hostel Committee and Chairman, Sports Committee. He organized VTU State level Shuttle Badminton Tournament in the year 2014 and VTU State level Kabbadi Tournament in the year 2016. AvadhutShivajiKharat has represented state cricket team and holds a NCC ‘C’ certificate with ‘A’ grading. He is also part of the SDMIT staff cricket team. He has delivered informative talks for the students on “Introduction to defence forces and career opportunities”, “Services Selection Board (SSB) Interviews” and “Role of Engineers in Defence Forces”. He is actively involved in training students to join defence forces as officers.

Biography

Dr. Chethan Rao is presently working as Assistant Professor in Department of Engineering Physics. He joined SDM Institute of Technology, Ujire in July 2014. He obtained his PhD degree in Nuclear and radiation Physics from Mangalore University, Mangalagangotri in the year 2013.

  • Worked as JRF for 2 years (August 2007- July 2009) and as SRF for 1 year 1 month (August 2009 - August 2010) in the Board for Research in Nuclear Science, Department of Atomic Energy (BRNS-DAE), Govt. of India sponsored research project entitled “Studies on Site-Specific Environmental Transfer Factors for Radionuclides and Trace Elements in Kaiga Region” under the principal investigation of Dr. N Karunakara, Assistant Professor, University Science Instrumentation Center, Mangalore University. The research project is completed successfully.
  • Worked as a Course Co-ordinator for the National level “Science Academies’ Refresher course on Classical Mechanics & Electromagnetism” held at Dept. of Physics, SDM College, Ujire, during 8-20 December, 2014. The program was sponsored by Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore, Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi, and The National Academy of Sciences, India, Allahabad. Prof. M. Lakshmanan, Professor of Eminence, Centre for Nonlinear Dynamics, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli was the course director for the program.
