DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE & ENGINEERING

The Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) program was started in the year 2007. The main focus of the department is to produce graduates with strong fundamentals in Computer Science and Engineering domain. The course is an outcome based structured to help students to achieve goal. Faculties in the department have outstanding teaching experience with average of 3 to 5 years. The department has maintained a student staff ratio of 15:1. The department has excellent infrastructure with state of the art equipment and software tools.

On completion of the B.E(Computer Science & Engineering) degree the graduates will be able to

  • Design and develop efficient computer programs/computer-based systems in the areas related to algorithms, machine learning , artificial intelligence , networking, web and mobile app design, cloud computing, IoT and data analytics of varying complexity

  • Apply standard Software Engineering practices and strategies in real-time software project development using open-source programming environment or commercial environment to deliver quality product for the organization success

MICROPROCESSOR AND MICROCONTROLLER LABORATORY (IV SEM)

Objectives

  • To provide practical exposure to the students on microprocessors, design and coding knowledge on 80x86 family/ARM. To give the knowledge and practical exposure on connectivity and execute of interfacing devices with 8086/ARM kit like LED displays Keyboards, DAC/ADC, and various other devices.

 

SYSTEM SOFTWARE AND OPERATING SYSTEM LABORATORY (VI SEM)

Objectives

  • To make students familiar with Lexical Analysis and Syntax Analysis phases of Compiler Design and implement programs on these phases using LEX & YACC tools and/or C/C++/Java
  • To enable students to learn different types of CPU scheduling algorithms used in operating system.
  • To make students able to implement memory management - page replacement and deadlock handling algorithms

COMPUTER GRAPHICS LABORATORY WITH MINI PROJECT (VI SEM)

Objectives:

  • Demonstrate simple algorithms using OpenGL Graphics Primitives and attributes.
  • Implementation of line drawing and clipping algorithms using OpenGL functions
  • Design and implementation of algorithms Geometric transformations on both 2D and 3D objects.

 

PROJECT LABORATORY (VIII SEM)

Objectives

  • To support students to generate, develop and commercialize their own innovative ideas through entrepreneurship and open innovative ideas.

Biography
Dr. Thyagaraju G S, is currently working as Associate Professor and HOD, in the department of Computer Science Engineering of SDMIT, Ujire. His Educational Qualification is M.Tech (CSE) and Ph.D (CSE). He has more than 18 years of teaching and research experience. He has published more than 40 research publications in national and international journals and conference proceedings. He has been recognized as an active reviewer for Elsevier journal of Advanced Soft Computing since May 2014. He has been nominated as associative editor for the international journal of advanced Pervasive and Ubiquitous Computing published by IGI publishing house, USA , since 2012. He has authored books titled “Modeling User Context “, “Context Aware Computing for Ubiquitous Computing Applications” and “Programming in C Made Easy “ which are published by Lambert Academic Publishing House , Germany. He has also authored a book titled Programming in C and Data Structure (as per CBCS 2016/2017 Scheme) for 1st year B.E students of VTU published by Sapna book house Bengaluru. His area of interest is Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning based Context Aware Computing. He is guiding four  Ph.D candidates on research projects in the area of  AI and Machine Learning , Deep Learning based User Context recognition and  Privacy in Cloud and IoT based Consumer Application .He is a life time member of IETE .  He is a active resource person for seminar, workshop, training programs and conferences elsewhere in the areas of AI , ML and IoT based Smart Context Aware Applications. Biography
H. Manoj T. Gadiyar working as Assistant Professor, Department of CSE, SDMIT, Ujire completed my B.E. in Information Science & Engineering in 2006 and M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering in 2015 from VTU, Belgaum. I have also completed M.Tech in Information Technology in Karnataka State Open University, Mysore in the year 2011. In 2006 I joined NIIT, Limited as faculty and then joined SDMIT, Ujire in 2007. I had been to SDMCET, Dharwad on deputation from 2012 to 2015 for the period of Three years. During my tenure in Dharwad, I also worked as Resident Warden of Boys Hostel, Technical Advisor for INSIGNIA, One of the core committee members of Mentors for the college, Library and Placement coordinator. I was convener for the National Workshop on Computational Intelligence, Organizing committee member for FIVE more workshops and FDP.  In SDMIT, I worked as a warden for the period of 4 years, Cultural Coordinator, Training & Placement Officer etc. Participated in Mission 10X as well as in Infosys Campus Connect program both as students while in Engineering and as a Teacher now. Some of other achievements are of Securing 96 percentile in 3rd National IT Aptitude test by NIIT, Limited, Invited Talk in Colleges like JCET, Trichy and other sister colleges of SDM. Presently also working as the coordinator for Industry Institute interaction, Training, MOUs with industry, Institutes and other universities at department level and as a Public Relation Officer (PRO), coordinator for IEDC and R&D at the college level. I am also Life Member of Indian Society of Technical Education (MISTE), IIT(D) Campus, New Delhi and Life Member of Kannada Sahitya Parishad.

Mr.  Ramakrishna Hegdeisan Assistant Professor in the department of Computer Science & Engineering  at SDM Institute of Technology ,Ujire, Karnataka, India.He has been working in the institute since 2009. He received a B.E. in Computer Science & Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU),Belgaum, Karnataka, India and an M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum, Karnataka, India.He has got 9 years of teaching, 8 years of industry experience and 4 years in Research experience in the domain of Computer Science & Engineering and currently he is pursuing his Ph.D under Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum, Karnataka, India in the domain of Computer Science & Engineering.
He is  also heading the Training & Placement department since January 2014.  He is a life time member of ISTE and International Association of Engineers (IAENG), Hong Kong and Lifetime Member of IAEME and the member of IEEE. He served as Vice President, Training, JCI, Ujire, for the year 2010-2011. He was well appreciated by UTL Technologies Ltd., Bangalore for successful implementation of PMKVY Program under Govt. of India in SDMIT, Ujire in the year 2015-16. He has guided more than 20  UG projects and out of which 2 projects are selected for funding from KSCST, Bangalore. He has published 7 research papers in various international journals and  attended more than 25 workshops/seminars and also he has presented a research paper at International Conference at Edinburgh, United Kingdom on 22nd and 23rd of July 2017 and awarded as “Best Paper Award”. He visited the countries like England and Scotland in the year 2017.  He has served many roles at the university level. He also organized and coordinated more than 100 events till now. He has delivered more than 10 guest lectures across Karnataka and served as judge for few seminars and students paper presentation events.

Mr. Guru Prasad M S is Professor of Computer Science at SDMIT.He has been since 2010. He received a B.E. from SJMIT,Chithradurga in 2010, and an M.Tech. from NMAMIT Nitte. Heis Perusing his Ph.D. in BIG DATA from the Visvesvaraya Technological University. His research interest span includesBig Data and its analysis are at the center of modern science business. These data are generated from online transactions, emails, videos, audios, images, click streams, logs, posts, search queries, health records, social networking interactions, science data, sensors and mobile phones and their applications. They are stored in databases grow massively and become difficult to capture, store, manage, share, analyze and visualize via typical database software tools. He has published 8 research papers in International Conferences and Journals. He has delivered 12 invited talks on “Big Data Analytics” at various institutes.

Chandrappa S was born in Channagiri city, India. Since 2011, He is working as Assistant Professor in Computer science and Engineering Department at SDM Institute of technology, Ujire, Karnataka. Sneha Shetty R., is currently working as Assistant Professor , in the department of Computer Science Engineering of SDMIT, Ujire. Her Educational Qualification is M.Tech (CSE) from Sahyadri College of Engg and Management .Her M.tech (CSE) project is based on controlling Massive sensors using GPGPU, programming language used is OpenCL, Algorithm is designed using the concept of Swarm Algorithm. Worked as intern in Automata Research Laboratory Bengaluru for seven months.Worked in the project of vertical farming (Thesis Project) in ARL for six months.Recognized with “Certificate of Appreciation” award for the effort on timely delivery of critical enhancements at Automata Research Laboratory Bengaluru.Filed Patent on “Security Solution for Internet of things”.(co-inventor).
